Forget About Cooking. Here’s Why You Should Hire a Pro Chef for your Holiday
By Alex Ruelas
Food is a crucial part of every trip, and if you are staying at a private villa, meals can be extraordinary moments. Eating together in your holiday home is an opportunity for coexistence, for sharing, and, of course, for indulging in tasty pleasures.
Most vacation rentals take pride in their well-equipped kitchens with state-of-the-art appliances. Now, you might be a pro cook yourself, capable of turning fresh ingredients into spectacular dinners. But if you are a mere hungry mortal like the rest of us, you might want to hire someone who can do just that.
A private chef can take your holiday to the next level. Whether you want to celebrate a special occasion or are simply looking to treat everyone to a lovely evening, letting a professional take command of your kitchen will not disappoint.
How does it work?
Easy. If you want a private chef in your villa, just let your Experience Curator know. They are the ones in charge of ensuring you have a wonderful stay and can arrange a professional cook for as long as you like. You can hire one for your entire stay or choose a specific date. You can have them around for every meal or just get some help with your Thanksgiving dinner. So long as you request the service at least 24 hours in advance, everything should be easily sorted.
Further, the service not only covers cooking. Chefs and their kitchen staff will handle everything food-related, from grocery shopping to leaving your kitchen squeaky clean. And although it does not typically include a waiter, you and your family will come to a table full of beautifully plated dishes and enjoy a luscious meal.
What’s on the menu?
Anything, just ask. The point of having a private chef is that you eat the things you like. So make all your requests. We can get local ingredients and turn them into comfort food, fancy dinner, or yummy treats for everyone in your group.
If you are not sure what you want straight away, we also have a menu you can choose from. It covers every meal, including breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner, with many options from morning omelets and chocolate milk to beef Wellington and ice cream for dessert. Likewise, remember our chefs are experts in Mexican cuisine, so if there is a dish you have been dying to try, this is your chance.
Is the chef service available in every villa?
Yes. Some villas even have a chef and staff permanently on-site, which means they know their kitchen backwards. And although not all villas provide exactly the service, Experience Curators will guarantee you are properly looked after. All of our private chefs are culinary wizards and can deliver mouth-watering dishes every time.
Nonetheless, the villa you choose matters. Kitchens vary in size and gear, so very elaborate dishes might be slightly easier to pull off in a better-equipped kitchen. But most importantly, villas offer different spaces where you can get together to share a meal. Some have outdoor dining tables sheltered by palm trees. Others have scenic rooftop terraces. Others still have beautiful gardens where your chef can cook an American BBQ or a Mexican parrillada in your poolside grill.
Can chefs prepare drinks too?
Yes, you can request non-alcoholic drinks such as juice, tea, coffee, and even smoothies. Also, if you want to engage with Mexican culture, you can have refreshing aguas frescas, a variety of fruit-infused beverages which are part of almost every gathering in our country.
Nonetheless, if you are thinking about following your dinner with cocktails, chefs are not the right people for the job. But worry not. We have bartenders and mixologists who can take care of that. Just let your Experience Curator know. They will send a specialist over to get the party going. It is even possible to have a private wine or tequila tasting.
The point is, your villa can become culinary heaven. Just like your travel itinerary, food can become a highly customizable experience that adds so much joy to your holiday. Because, let’s face it, we all love to eat. And when you journey far, everything you put on your plate can be an opportunity to explore further, a moment of comfort, and an occasion to bring the people you are traveling with closer together.
