Mediterranean Cuisine: CGrill
Written by Natalia Bolohan
In the hierarchy of Playa real estate, the beach reigns supreme. In the hierarchy of beach clubs? The Thompson Beach House takes the crown. The Beach House's restaurant, C-Grill is placed in perfect proximity to the beach and it was with an amazing view of the ocean that we sampled the Mediterranean inspired cuisine and some of the best dessert we’ve ever had. Our feast started with the local octopus carpaccio, followed by warm pita with humus and babaganush.
Ordering the catch of the day in Playa is good practice in general. At C-Grill it is mandatory as the Mediterranean spices give the fish an unparalleled flavor of tang and freshness. The catch of the day paired with the balsamic and feta cheese grilled asparagus makes for a meal light enough to leave room for a decadent dessert. If it’s true that we eat first with our eyes, then we’ll order the Choco Pot every time for being equal parts pretty and delicious. It comes with a scoop of raspberry sorbet that sits on a bed of crumbly chocolate brownie. Only when you dig a little deeper do you get to the souffle portion and to the realization that you have to get one bite that contains all three textures in order to feel complete. We certainly felt complete at the end of our meal at C-Grill and we can’t wait to go back!
